MY "MISSION GOAL" IS TO BRING EASTERN FOUNDATION BREED TENNESSEE WALKING HORSES TO ARIZONA AND TO THE WEST.
OWNER / MANAGER / TRAINER
Hi, my name is Jack Teter, I will do my very best to answer any questions you may have, but first some background information about me and my experience with the Worlds Finest Horse........
" THE MAGNIFICENT TENNESSEE WALKING HORSE "
Raised in Illinois in the 1950's I was first introduced to ponies at the age of 8. At that time ponies were a hot commodity. A friend of the family took a semi-stock trailer out west and bought 30 pasture ornament ponies. Most had never been ridden, let alone broke. I got the job of breaking them since the adults were too big to ride them. This was back in the day when you threw a saddle on them and tried to buck them out. I had never been on a pony before but their theory was, I was young and healed quicker. Well, those ponies beat me up pretty bad and out of the 30 or so, I got over 20 of them broke. What I learned from that experience was that I never wanted to ride another crazy pony ever again, but by the time I was done I had a new found love for horses. It took several years after getting tossed and stomped by those ponies that I got my own horse, a Grade Tennessee Walker mare. I had Coco for several years and taught all our kids to ride her and guess what? They were hooked and all own horses today. I've owned several different breeds throughout my life but always went back to owning Walkers.
In 2004 I moved back to Tucson, Arizona where I was born and took my 2 Walkers with me. I went on a Gaited Horse Ride where there were dozens of gaited horses but not a single Walker. I was approached by several people during the ride that asked me the breed of horse I was riding. When I told them it was a Tennessee Walker, most of them had never heard of the breed and those that did thought they were show horses and not trail horses. After getting the same response at several more trail rides and a few Competitive Trail Rides I drove back east and bought several Foundation bred Walkers.
In 2005 I started a business named "JT'S Gaited Horses". The response was overwhelming. I sold Walkers as fast as I listed them. You all remember when hay prices went out of sight in 2007? It got as high as $28.00 a bale! Needless to say, people weren't buying horses anymore, they were selling them. After a few years, hay prices slowly went down making it affordable for people to want to buy horses again. Right now in most places of Arizona, hay sells for $14.00 - $18.00 a bale and is still slowly going down.
While my wife Maria and I lived in Tucson as JT'S Gaited Horses, unfortunately I could only sell my horses about 8 months out of the year due to the extreme hot climate often over 100 degrees for long periods of time. We don't ride the horses when it's that hot, so my wife and I started searching for a new place climatically tolerable and higher up in the mountains where it was cooler for us as well as the horses and where we could ride and run the business all year round. With the help and support of my wife and children and a lot of blood sweat and tears plus hard manual labor, my life's long dream of owning a Horse Ranch finally became a reality when we found and purchased our beautiful 40 acre ranch in the most Magnificent and Majestic area in all of beautiful Elgin, Az., surrounded by Sky Island Mountains located just below the Mustang Mountains, famous vineyards, cattle, especially horses. Life couldn't be any sweeter........... and cooler! The rest is history.
I don't sell my horses to just anybody, my horses are placed in loving homes with people that match their personalities, that is of the highest priority. All my Tennessee Walkers are Eastern Foundation bred. With over 30 years of owning, training, and selling Walkers, I promise, when you see the quality and many choices I have to show you, you'll feel confident and rest assured knowing your buying a sound horse of the utmost highest quality. Thanks again for your interest in my horses and browsing through my website. Enjoy the music!
